Life Without Limbs: Nick Vujicic

Imagine yourself getting through a single day without one arm or leg. Now imagine yourselves living a life without any arms or legs. We probably won't even dare to dream such a scenario. In this issue's inspirational story, we look at Nick who is not only living a worthy life but also inspiring and transforming the lives of others.
Early Life:

Nicholas Vujicic was born 4th December 1982 in Melbourne, Australia to Serbian immigrants from Yugoslavia. He was born without any limbs, a very rare medical condition called tetra-amelia syndrome. After birth, even his mother refused to see or hold him after the nurse brought the newborn child to him. Finally, she and her husband accepted him “as God's plan for their son”. Originally, he was born with the toes of one foot fused in a leg. An operation was performed to separate it into two toes so that it could be used to hold things together.
The early days were very difficult for Nick. Right during his childhood, Nick not only faced the daily challenge but also challenges of school and bullying. He used to wonder why is he different from other kids and was slowly drawn to depression and loneliness. He wasn't even allowed to study in a normal school, even though there was nothing wrong with his IQ. It was quite difficult not just for Nick but also his family to cope up with the troubles that accompanied Nick due to lack of limbs.
Since early age, Nick questioned the purpose of his life and even contemplated suicide by drowning in a pool at school. However, the love for his parents stopped him from doing so. Nick survived and thrived during his school and college days with an abundance of love and support from his family but he was not really having any love or passion for life.
Nick learned to use his two toes as fingers to grab, hold and do simple things like read books, write, type and hold small things. He also uses it to operate his electronic wheelchair, a computer and a mobile phone.
Turning Point & Work:
A turning point came in life when at the age of 17, Nick was shown an article of a man dealing with a severe disability by his mother. Nick realised that he is not alone and there are others who have been boldly facing challenges and scripting their own lives. Nick slowly developed faith in God and started expressing himself positively. At 17, he started giving talks at his prayer group. His first speaking engagement came at age 19. At the age of 20, Nick moved to California, USA. At the age of 21, Nick completed graduation with a Bachelor of Commerce, with a double major in accountancy and financial planning.
From an early age, Nick has been travelling around the world and delivers speeches especially focusing on disability, challenges and teenage problems. At age 23, Nick founded 'Life Without Limbs', an international non-profit organisation and ministry. In 2007, he founded Attitude is Altitude, a secular motivational speaking company. He has also acted in a film and even won an award for Best Actor for a short film. In 2011, he even released a music album.
Nick's first book, Life Without Limits: Inspiration for a Ridiculously Good Life, was published by Random House in 2010 and has been translated into over 30 languages. He has also created many motivational videos for people faced with challenges. As an inspirational speaker, Nick has been sharing his story with millions and now speaks to a very wide audience including children, business professionals, teachers and church congregations.
Nick has perhaps achieved much more than what a normal person with all limbs could do. He has been an author, musician, actor, and his hobbies include fishing, painting and swimming. Nick found the love of his life in the year 2008 in Texas, got married in the year 2012 and today has four children. Till date, Nick has already addressed over three million people in over 60 countries. Over the years, Nick earned many awards and recognition for his inspirational work.
Nick is a devout Christian, believing that God loves everyone equally, and has taken it upon himself to spread the message to everyone around the world. Nick says, “If you can't get a miracle, become one.” In the face of severe disability, Nick has shown to the world how you can make your life worthy and inspirational for others...
Famous quotes:
  • I was never crippled till I lost hope
  • When you feel like giving up on your dream, force yourself to work another day, another week, a year. You will be amazed at what happens when you don't give up.
  • Some injuries heal more quickly if you keep moving
  • I have a choice to be angry at God for what I don't have, or be thankful for what I do have.
  • If a man without arms and legs is dreaming big, why can't we, why can't we all?
  • I didn’t need arms and legs to be happy. I needed peace and a purpose.

A controversial Bill passed in Iran, it allows men to marry daughters, draws flak from other nations?

A controversial Bill passed in Iran, it allows men to marry daughters, draws flak from other nations? Iran Parliamentarians have moved a bill in order to protect the rights of children which includes a clause that lets a man marry his own adopted daughter considering the fact that she is 13 years old. However, activists of the country have expressed alarm that the bill sanctioned by parliament, gives an opportunity for the caretaker of a family to marry his or her adopted child if a court orders it is in the best interests of the individual child. Iran’s Guardian Council, a body of clerics and jurists which reviews all parliamentary bills before the constitution and the Islamic law, has yet to give its final verdict on the controversial legislation. To the shock of rights campaigners, girls in the Islamic republic can marry as young as 13 years old if they seek permission from their father. On the other hand, boys can marry only after the age of 15. In Iran,

The Blind CEO Who Changed Destiny

The inspiring story of Srikanth Bolla If the "world looks at me and says, 'You can do nothing,' I look back at the world and say I can do anything." The luckiest person alive: Srikanth Bolla is the CEO of Hyderabad-based Bollant Industries, a company that manufactures eco-friendly, disposable consumer packaging solutions. But he is not your usual entrepreneur or CEO. Srikanth was born in a village near Machilipatnam, a small city in Andhra Pradesh in a farming family. When he was born villagers suggested his parents to smother him. To smother means to kill someone by suffocating by covering nose & mouth. Reason being, Srikanth was born without eyes. Srikanth's parents had a big dilemma in their hands. Would they let their child suffer all his life without eyes, as prophesied by many, or let him live his life? Everyone else called the little boy names like burden, useless. Fortunately, Srikanth's parents who were uneducated, poor and earning jus
